R22 air conditioning refrigerant cannot be used in new equipment after year 2010. There are lots of air conditioning systems containing r22 still running. Here are the rules about r22 refrigerant and what to do if your system contains it. All of the r22 in your current system will need to be re claimed and your system will need to be charged with the new r 421a.

Small amount will be produced to service equipment until year 2030 when its production will stop. Our r 421a air conditioner units use roughly the same pressure as r22 allowing you to keep your indoor units. R22 can still be used to service existing air conditioners but supplies will be more limited and more expensive as the refrigerant is harder to source. If your equipment still uses r 22 after this do not be alarmed as there are still many r 22 hvac systems in the field that can be reclaimed for service and repair.

While r 22 remains available for servicing equipment made before 2010 it is important to know that supplies of r 22 will become more limited and the price of this refrigerant may increase says the air conditioning heating and refrigeration institute.
